Understand the business. Then build the software.

Services

What I do breaks down into four things. Jump to whichever one fits, or read straight through.

Custom Development & Hosting

The first conversation is free — and so is the plan that comes out of it. I come to where you work, watch how the business actually runs, and put together a concrete plan for what the software should do. You only start paying once you've seen that plan and decided it's worth building.

I only take on a few clients at a time. That's not a scarcity tactic — premise visits and real planning just don't scale past that.

If a previous developer walked away from your project, or it never got past a half-working version, that's a normal starting point here too. Happy to talk through what's actually salvageable.

Legacy Site Migration

If your site is still running on Drupal or Joomla, it's probably gotten harder to maintain, harder to find help for, and harder to make look and work the way people now expect. Moving it to WordPress fixes that.

It's a fixed fee, agreed upfront before any work starts. Hosting is included as part of the ongoing service agreement afterward, and transferring your domain over is optional — not required to move forward.

Little or no documentation isn't a dealbreaker. Reconstructing how an undocumented system actually works is a normal part of this.

Recipes

Recipes is recipe management software, built to actually organize a working recipe collection rather than just look nice.

There are three ways to use it: as a hosted service I run for you, as a licensed product you run yourself under a yearly-renewing license, or as a simple site for an individual or family who just wants their recipes somewhere good.

Tools for Developers

A few smaller tools came out of client work and are available on their own:

  • gl-events — event, ladder, and tournament management
  • A media gallery system for organizing and presenting large photo and video collections
  • A photo booth experience for events

Each is available two ways: free, bundled in as part of a custom development or hosting engagement, or on its own — licensed to other developers and agencies under the same yearly-renewing model as Recipes.
